Sorry for not keeping up better with the blog. I know many of you are thinking “Did she get home from the hospital?” Yes! Yes! I was discharged a couple of Saturdays ago at about 10:30 pm. I’ve been enjoying home and all the things that go with it for the last week plus!
Things are going well. If you were following along during the last treatment, I was very excited that I didn’t have any white blood cells because that could indicate the chemo is doing what the chemo is supposed to do. We are seeing that again with this round. I’ve got about 2 white blood cells and 0 neutrophils (again, the Marines of the immune system) right now, so I’m super immunocompromised. My hemoglobin and platelets have also dropped a lot (again, as expected), and I’m waiting to get called for a blood transfusion. Any minute now they say!
The lack of red blood cells causes me to be super tired. It’s tiring to climb the stairs at home, or take a shower; everything is really heavy to move. Once I get some blood, I should feel a less tired.
For this week and next, we are waiting for my blood cell counts to go up and me to stay healthy. I’ll have another bone marrow biopsy on October 9 which should guide the next steps. My goals right now are to keep eating and stay infection free. So far, this time around I’ve had better luck staying away from mouth sores, which had been such a problem last round.
Anyway, I know my audience, you’ve also been thinking about my car. Nope, nope, no car yet. Silly friends. They promise me the car will be ready tomorrow – Wednesday September 27. For you keeping score at home, my car was damaged in a storm July 29 and hasn’t been usable since. [Insert grumpy emoji here.] I have some thoughts about the insurance and body shop process, but I just want the car back.
If you stay in, stay warm, you don't need your car!!
